National Security

I believe that we as Americans must recommit ourselves to living the principles that made this nation safe, free, and prosperous while simultaneously standing ready to defend it against attack foreign or domestic. In order to prevent an attack, there's no higher priority than readiness through prevention, detection, deterrence. The only way to reduce America's vulnerability is to provide persistent, simple and sensible national security campaigns.

If we are going to secure our nation we must rethink how we approach it. For national security to truly be effective it must start as a bottom up effort beginning at the citizen level first. Through engaging in new partnerships on the community, city and county levels, state and local governments need to extend empowerment of their already developed preparedness plans and education campaigns to private citizens who can participate in the already existing initiatives to prepare and defend their homes and their neighborhoods against unplanned disasters both natural and man made.

Pro Choice for Life

LIFE as a choice is forged by my own life experiences. As a father, I am part of, and witness to, the miracle of life. As a firefighter, my choice is always to save a life, no matter the consequences. As a survivor of my Ground Zero 9/11 experience, God gave me a second chance at the precious gift of my own life. There is no doubt in my mind that the right to life is the single, most basic, and most fundamental right of all.

As I looked at the events that unfolded today surrounding the Obama administration's decision to try Sept. 11th mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Guantanamo Bay detainees in civilian federal court in New York; I reflected on what a an outright insult it is to all of us who served at Ground Zero. Truly this is a slap in the face to those who have given and continue to give their lives in the war against terror (which still takes place even though political correctness deems it as a “man caused disaster”) and all Americans everywhere who believe that our constitution is being attacked as well as our God given Rights being continually used and abused by those who work and strive towards the ultimate goal of our utter and total demise.

Tax Policy

I am in favor of cutting taxes under any circumstances whenever it's possible. I believe the problem is not taxes per se, but is spending. Waste, fraud, and abuse seem to increase in the federal budgets from year to year. This is not the time to raise taxes on anyone. A sure way to stifle any rebound in our struggling economy is to ask people for money that they do not have. It has been proven that lowering taxes stimulates growth and promotes spending and investment in more jobs and the future. I will help draft and support any legislation that will lower taxes, reduce our debt and balance our budget.

This is the largest combined tax increase and expansion of government ever proposed in this nation's history. It’s is up to the citizens like YOU to stand behind me and generate the massive grassroots outcry that will take this nation back and put an end to this tax and spend mentality. Sadly, instead of investing in American innovation and helping businesses thrive, we will be paying interest to foreign governments on this loan that congress borrowed in your name if we stay on our present course!

Bridge to Somewhere

The bridge across Long Island Sound has been on the drawing board since I was a child. Mainly, environmental reasons were listed as the main reason as to why this most necessary linking of Long Island and CT couldn’t be broached. I believe that the time is right for such a project to be undertaken and today, environmental reasons are one of the main reasons why we SHOULD be moving ahead. From a certain point east, not just the eastern tip this bridge would be a reduction of travel time for the commuters who actually drive this everyday. This could entice more folks to move to CT in the “country” where prices of homes and living and taxes are less than Long Island (one of the highest in the nation) and actually prompt our CT tax revenues in all areas to rise because of the influx of new residents.

Human Trafficking

I believe Human Trafficking is an area that should be of great concern globally and not just locally. It transcends all parties ages, genders and is at the core of human rights at the most basic levels.

Atrocities mostly unspeakable, are being committed in the illegal trafficking of innocent people which destroys countless families and lives every day. These illegal actions, often go unnoticed and affects literally every part of our country. I am committed to take aggressive actions to combat this inhuman treatment of our fellow man.
