I believe in maximizing the rights and powers of the people and of the state over that of the federal government. I am committed to preserving the Constitution’s rights of the people and the state to restrict the powers on the federal government. The Ninth Amendment and Tenth Amendment reaffirm the ultimate power to the states and the people, after all the buck stops here with "we the people'. For real reform to take place on any issue we have to first reform our position as citizens in this great nation.
In no other government ever established do the citizens have as much power as what we have here. The constitution and Bill of rights was the direct response to the tyranny that our founding fathers fled from in the 17th and 18th century. They wanted their children and generations to have a direct say in every area and aspect of their government and not to be held subject to its oppression.
Ultimately the first people we have to blame is not congress, is not senate, the supreme court, the president, lobbyist, large corporations, or even special interest groups. No, the people to blame and that this burden of responsibility rests upon is us. You, me, all of us that call ourselves American citizens, a hard one to swallow in difficult times but we are to blame. If we are going to fix this problem together we have to first restore the principles of our founding fathers and reclaim the empowerment given to us in the Ninth Amendment and Tenth Amendments.
This is our ultimate inheritance from ancestors long past who had enough foresight to give us the keys to secure the maximum freedoms for all individuals for generations to come. The framework was and is the ultimate checks and balances system, but in the last 100 years we have allow the government to strip these rights from us one piece at a time. Why then have we have been moving away from individual freedom, towards collectivism; away from self-governance, towards government control at such an alarming rate? For too long the powers of the federal government have continued to increase which infringe on the sovereignty of the people and of the powers of the state, and continue to violate the Constitution. This has got to stop.
To prevent the current direction we are going, we have to proactively engage ourselves into the process. We have to redefine and reclaim the scope of federal powers as being granted by the people as stated in the Constitution. This guarantees us as citizens both enumerated and unremunerated powers as defined and permitted by the state governments which is voted upon and granted by people themselves. Any power assumed by the federal government which has not been delegated to it by the People, should be nullified; so that the People of a State would not be under the dominion of absolute and unlimited control of whoever might exercise their right of judgment upon them.
This unconstitutional power grab has been exercised, both past and present, by federal administrations, under the leadership of both Democrats and Republicans who see self-governance as little more than allowing voters to choose which of two politicians will win. Others in who hold to the elite and progressive mindset are so brazen and see self-governance as a problem that should be overcome.
How long are we going to sit idly by and allow our elected leaders to continue ignoring “overwhelming public consensus” to push through bailouts and other legislation that the people do not want? We are in danger of becoming a nation big government and special interest work together and ignore the rest of us. They call the shots, write the laws, often times force legislation under the guise of an "emergency" and we get stuck with the bills. Then to add insult to injury, they have the audacity to come back to us indignant at our outrage and label us as the problem.
I am committed to making all forms of legislation (local, state and federal) be posted and available for review to the public in final form for a minimum of one before a vote so we can put an end to last-minute legislation which tends to open the door to special interest projects that get thrown into the mix.
Continuing with that accountability I believe "WE THE PEOPLE" should have the right to approve all pay increases for legislators, governors, and Presidents and that this approval should be on the same ballot as when the people vote during the election cycles. I am quite certain that there would be no shortages during voter turnout and participation in the process then.
If granted your confidence and elected to represent you as your Senator, I will commit that as long as I hold this office that my votes will always be in favor of the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this great State. On Every issue. Every time without exceptions. I oppose any and all efforts by the federal government to act beyond its Constitutional authority and will do all I can on your behalf to to ensure that it does not happen.
I will proactively support measures designed to adhere to the Ninth and Tenth Amendments and preserve, to their fullest extent, the powers of the People in my district, and of the legislators and administrations of my State. Additionally I will gladly sponsor and support resolutions affirming the sovereignty of the 'WE the People' of this State under the Ninth and Tenth Amendments granted to us in the Constitution.
I will gladly introduce, sponsor, and support any legislation that nullifies, within my state, actions of the federal government which exceed its Constitutional authority and refuse federal funding made on condition that my State comply with federal mandates not authorized by the Constitution.
I will introduce, sponsor and support legislation that provides such relief as is necessary and proper to provide fair redress to the citizens of Connecticut in response to actions by the federal government which exceeds its Constitutional authority. Unlike others currently in office I will only vote in favor of a bill that I have thoroughly read, considered and understood as I am ultimately accountable to you. As a matter of accountability, I will make public every vote I cast while in office. I make this commitment to you public, and will provide a link on my senate website, if elected, which will direct constituents to the text of this commitment.
The reason I am listing this as a platform issue is because is though it may be presumed, rarely do candidates state it clearly. As a candidate I want to be totally upfront with you, as all candidates should, and let you know that this defines my positions on all issues. No matter what side of the isle you reside, if it were not for these two amendments, the rights you enjoy in the first amendment, the rights and protection given to you in all the other amendments, would not be there. Why, because those rights and powers would be coming from the government instead of you.
In a democratic republic you decide which choices to choose. In a any form of socialism and other forms of government, those choices are made for you. Under Mao, Che, Stalin, etc Civil Rights would have never happened nor would Women’s Suffrage or, fast forwarding to the present, the Tea Party Movement. And whether or not you agree with the war protesters in the 60's or not, they too would have been silenced as well. Dissenters under those systems are silenced, unfairly arrested and convicted and as we saw with Stalin, Castro/Che and Mao - murdered. It is ironic that the very crowd that was to bring us out of the social dark ages, to help us embrace love, tolerance, and free thought are now wanting to suppress anyone who doesn't agree with them.
The words of Thomas Paine never rang so clearly or more true than they do for today on this issue "He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from opposition; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach himself." Please stand with me, work with me to empower yourselves and the state over the federal government. Help me be an agent that will restore the proper balance as intended by our founding fathers so we can move forward.

I really want to hear your feedback on this issue. As an individual running as a Senator, my job would be to listen to you as your representative and then act accordingly upon the expressed will of you, the people. This is why at the end of every issue I have a comment feedback section, because without your direct involvement in this campaign, I would just be another politician promoting my agenda over that of those whom I work for and was elected to represent.
